BI/DBA/Data Warehouse Job Title: Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Specialist/DBA SUMMARY OF POSITION: Manufacturing Corporation is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence Specialist/ DBA to be located in our corporate offices. This position is best suited for someone possessing several years of database administration experience with a background in Data Warehouse ETL and Business Intelligence Development and looking to grow their skill set in SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and Oracle 9i database development and administration. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Actively participate in the overall Data Warehouse/Business Intelligence Strategy • Develop Business Intelligence solutions within a Cognos Business Intelligence environment. • Design and execute data extracts from SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and Oracle 9i database systems using tools such as SQL Server DTS and Ascential Datastage. • Create all objects and mappings from OLTP systems to Data Warehouse systems. • Monitor production loads and conduct root cause analysis for all load failures • Reviews and participates in data design, tool design, data loads, and presentation system design • Provides input, recommendations, and resolutions for technical issues • Work with customers, business analysts and technical staff to design, develop and enhance data warehouse components, business intelligence solutions, and procedures • Analyze and understand business requirements to produce development deliverables that support and comply with design and architectural specifications • Perform periodic maintenance on existing Data Warehouse implementation including, but not limited to, SQL Server DTS, Ascential Datastage, Cognos tools (ie. Upfront, Powerplay, Impromptu) • Actively address business unit requests, clearly communicating commitments, issues, completion dates and status with the requestor and with management • Document and conduct unit and system testing as it pertains to new Business Information/Data Warehouse development and maintenance • May review technical work of other team members for quality assurance • Develop and implement process improvements • Identification and resolution of data integrity issues • Definition of the design and functionality of analytical reporting front-ends • Development and execution of system test plans • Participate in project delivery and roadmap development • Coach/mentor team members on Business Intelligence solutions • Additional responsibilities will include data cleansing, data quality analysis and business rules automation • Other general database projects that may be outside the Business Intelligence scope. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • At least four years working experience in a Data Warehouse development environment. • Must possess a solid understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and strategies • Must possess a good understanding of Database Administration concepts and strategies • Experience in report design and report development using enterprise Business Intelligence toolsets desired. • Experience in data integration methods from heterogeneous data sources, including legacy databases, employing data transformation standards and best practices • Strong SQL skills required (TSQL and PL/SQL) • Must be self-motivated, have a strong team orientation, learn quickly and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Must be highly committed to data integrity • Solid analytical, problem identification and resolution skills • Internal consulting, presentations and recommendations, end user education • Proven track record for working effectively with technical and business functions • Willing to work on non-BI projects when necessary • Willing to assist team with daily monitoring when necessary • Good understanding of Cognos 7.0 or later BI tools including Powerplay, Impromptu, and Upfront. • Basic understanding of Microstrategy also a plus. • Basic understanding of Peoplesoft Enterprise One also a plus. • Experience using enterprise scheduling tools (i.e. Ascential DataStage, SQL Server DTS) • Basic understanding of MS Reporting Services and MS Analysis Services also a plus.
