Production Manager

Join a high performance management team. Assume responsibility for the management of all aspects of the production operation for this manufacturer. The Operations Manager is a proactive, strategic thinker whose skills contribute to the efficient, systematic and profitable operation of the company’s production department. You will provide overall leadership and direction to direct reports responsible for production, sanitation, and maintenance operations. You will implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality, and ensure continuous improvement. This manager has the proven ability to lead and grow the production team using Lean Manufacturing principles. Preparatory role in becoming Plant Manager. Reports to the VP of Operations.

DUTIES

1. Lead shift managers and their teams in all aspects of the plant from material receipt through production and packaging to the warehouse.
2. Monitor, measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and timescales.
3. Coach and develops shift manager to enable them to more effectively utilize systems and programs consistently across the teams.
4. Follow trends and crewing across the teams to stay ahead of hiring and training needs.
5. Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
6. Liaise with other functional/departmental managers so as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of operational development, and to ensure they are fully informed of operational objectives, purposes and achievements.
7. Participate in development and implementation of safety standards, employee training, and company policy
8. Meets service objectives by optimizing continuous operations with quality and efficiency. Ensures consistency in systems and accuracy in reporting performance across shifts.
9. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Five (5) years of equivalent managerial experience in the food industry
2. Excellent computer (Microsoft Suite) and analytical skills
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. Proven history of successful goal setting, achievement, and employee management
2. Familiar with food processing and its associated equipment
3. Excellent strategic planning expertise
4. Procurement management
5. Has designed and/or implemented OSHA, HAACP, USDA programs
6. Proven success with efficient production line organization and output improvement
7. Experienced team builder and participant
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to motivate and lead a diverse work force to achieve desired results
9. Proven history of successful creation and implementation of training programs & operational procedures
10. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and the ability to lead team to constant Lean improvement
